Mr. Markwell serves as the CEO and managing principal for Stonemont Financial Group, overseeing all aspects of the business. Since founding the firm in 2008, Mr. Markwell has transformed Stonemont from a boutique investment firm into a multi-faceted real estate platform including development, acquisition, asset management, and advisory services. In addition to providing the overall strategic direction of the firm, Mr. Markwell serves as chairman of its Investment Committee for all development and acquisitions.
Mr. Markwell graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance and earned a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from the Mendoza College of Business at University of Notre Dame. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree with a dual concentration in finance and strategy from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Mr. Markwell serves on the Board of Gigi’s Playhouse, Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. He and his wife Casie reside in Roswell, GA, with their two children Will and Ella.
Mr. McCoy serves as the president of Stonemont Income Fund, the firm’s flagship net lease fund vehicle focused on long term investment-grade net lease assets. He also serves as a principal on new net lease development and sale leaseback projects across the credit spectrum, outside of the Fund. Prior to joining Stonemont, Mr. McCoy has served as the head of the Corporate Net Lease Capital Markets group within Wells Fargo’s Structured Real Estate Group, focused on single tenant, net leased transactions whereby it may act as principal investor, lender, or placement agent. Since the group’s founding in 1997, it has invested, financed, placed, or advised on over $30 billion of net lease office, retail, industrial, and special purpose assets under multiple operating lease, capital lease, and balance sheet structures. Mr. McCoy has extensive knowledge of corporate credit, real estate, tax, accounting, and legal concerns which define single tenant, net lease investing. Build-to-suit, sale-leaseback, secondary market acquisitions, balance sheet and securitized debt products serve corporate user clients, developer clients.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Mr. McCoy was an Assistant Vice President with Wells Real Estate Funds, a leading sponsor of non-traded REITs, Limited Partnerships, and 1031 TIC Programs. Mr. McCoy holds a B.A. in English Literature from Wofford College where he was also a football letterman. Currently, Mr. McCoy serves on the Wofford Investment Advisory Committee which oversees the college’s endowment and is Past President of the Wofford Terrier Club. Mr. McCoy holds both Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.
Jeff Berryhill is a principal at Stonemont Financial Group and leads the firm’s Net Lease line of business. Jeff has over 15 years of real estate, capital markets and banking experience.
Jeff began his career at SunTrust in Jacksonville and spent several years banking large physician practices. After business school, Jeff joined the Structured Real Estate Group in SunTrust Robinson Humphrey’s Corporate and Investment Banking Division in Atlanta, GA. Jeff spent 11 years in the Structured Real Estate Group, most recently as the Managing Director of the originations team. During his time with the company, Jeff focused on the origination and structuring of sale/leaseback and build-to-suit transactions with the firm’s corporate and developer clients.
Jeff has a Finance degree and an MBA from the University of Florida and is a CFA charterholder. Jeff is on the leadership team for the Christ Renews His Parrish ministry at Christ the King Cathedral in Atlanta and volunteers with his wife Shelley in the church’s Sponsor Couple ministry. Jeff and Shelley live in Buckhead with their four children.
Mr. Burch oversees all legal and compliance matters for the firm and co-manages many of the firms new strategic initiatives. Prior to joining Stonemont, Mr. Burch was a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Atlanta office where he represented real estate owners, equity investors, and lenders in all aspects of real estate investment and development transactions. In his 12 years of law firm practice, David was elected a partner in two AM Law 200 law firms and regularly represented sponsors and equity investors on real estate developments, joint ventures, and asset management matters for all property types, with a focus on net-lease transactions, mixed use developments, and real estate mortgage financing. David has been honored on the Georgia Super Lawyers annual “Rising Star” list for Real Estate Law 6 times since 2011. He received his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, magna cum laude, and his Bachelor of Business Administration – Finance from the University of Georgia, summa cum laude.
Dusten Estes serves as the Senior Vice President – Special Projects & Operating Companies, overseeing Stonemont Financial’s operating company and outside opportunities line of business.
Dusten began his career in residential home building with Mercedes Homes Inc., now Vintage Estate Homes Inc., by building multi-family, 6-plex townhomes and large single family homes on the Florida coast. He Oversaw subdivision and community development as well as supervised and completed construction of over 300 homes.
Dusten’s entrepreneurial spirit then lead him to branch off on his own, building and selling custom homes. From there he franchised numerous Little Caesars and Five Guys restaurants in Washington State. Over the next seven years, he operated 12 restaurants and retail stores, comprising of more than 175 employees. Still interested in entrepreneurship, he then created a trampoline park company, Flight Trampoline Parks, and as managing partner, he oversaw the design, buildout and day-to-day operations of all the parks. The company grew to 5 locations and over 200 employees. The company was sold to Private Equity Group Gladstone in 2015. Dusten became nationally renowned in the Family Entertainment Industry and in 2014 he designed, built and operated the second largest indoor family entertainment center in North America, Slingshot Entertainment in Atlanta, GA.
In January 2017, Dusten sold his share of the entertainment facility to join Stonemont Financial. Dusten studied business at the University of Florida and later graduated from Southern Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
Dusten served on a two-year religious mission trip in Cambodia and is fluent in the Khmer language. He is an Eagle Scout and volunteers actively in his church. Dusten and his wife Carrie currently reside in Cumming, Georgia with their four children.
Jack Altmeyer joined Stonemont Financial Group in September 2017 as a Senior Vice President. Prior to joining Stonemont, Jack spent 19 years at Wells Fargo, most recently as a Director in the Corporate Net Lease Capital Markets group within the Structured Real Estate Group, which focused on single tenant, net leased transactions whereby it may act as principal investor, lender, or placement agent. Throughout his career with CNLCM, Jack has worked on the origination, structuring and execution of over $15.0 billion of synthetic lease, sale-leaseback, real estate secured term loan and corporate bridge loan transactions. Jack’s responsibilities within CNLCM included the structuring and execution of CNLCM’s real estate transactions as well as the portfolio management and reporting of CNLCM’s retained debt and equity investments.
Jack has a finance degree from the University of Miami and holds both Series 7 and Series 63 designations. Jack and his wife Jacki reside in Charlotte, NC with their three children.
Stephen Evans serves as Senior Vice President primarily responsible for capital raising and investor relations activities for the firm. Since beginning a career in real estate in 1986, Stephen has built extension real estate experience in each major property sector from the asset to the portfolio level with a thorough understanding of all aspects of real estate investment and operations across the capital stack and risk spectrum. Before joining Stonemont, Stephen spent nearly 19 years with USAA Real Estate during which time as Managing Director had responsibility for the implementation of investment strategies for fund and separate account investments working with sophisticated US and foreign institutional investors and investment consultants as well as organizing the global investor relations platform.
Mr. Evans graduated from the Florida State University business school in 1982, is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association. Stephen resides with his wife Anne in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Sencen joined Stonemont in July 2017 and serves as Stonemont Financial Group’s Controller. Prior to joining Stonemont, Jim last served as Assistant Treasurer at Fosterlane Management Company, a wholly-owned entity of the Kuwait Investment Authority, which owns commercial office buildings throughout the United States. Jim was responsible for all aspect of accounting and financial reporting for 23 years. Jim began his career with Deloitte and Touche as an auditor.
Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida. He also received a Masters of Accounting degree from Florida Atlantic University.
In the Trading group, he was responsible for the purchase of over $50 million in real estate for one of the world’s largest bond funds. He also focused on expansion into new markets and asset management of the fund’s 4,000 rental homes. Previously, Neal worked for over 3 years as an Analyst, and then Associate, in Landmark Properties’ development group in Athens, GA. He worked with a team that developed over 5,000 student housing beds and developed and sold over $500 million of purpose-built student housing.
Neal graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the Terry College of Business in 2011. In his free time, Neal enjoy playing tennis, golf, and enjoying the outdoors with his dog, Jackson.
Claudia Hanby joined Stonemont Financial Group in September 2017 as an Associate. Previously, Claudia was an Associate in the Corporate Net Lease Capital Markets group within Wells Fargo’s Structured Real Estate division where she played an integral part in the origination and execution of single-tenant, net leased transactions including build-to-suits, sale-leasebacks, secondary market acquisitions, non-recourse balance sheet lending and credit tenant lease debt structuring. Her responsibilities spanned from the initial asset evaluation and financial analysis prior to a pitch through the final closing tasks and post-closing project management.
Claudia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School with a concentration in Finance and a second degree in Communication Studies. Claudia holds both Series 79 and Series 63 designations and is a CFA Level II candidate. Claudia is a mentor through Big Brother Big Sister.
David joined Stonemont Financial Group in April 2018. Prior to joining Stonemont, David worked in the Real Estate Fund Services group at State Street. While at State Street, David provided accounting services for closed-end and open-end real estate funds. David’s responsibilities included preparing financial statements, financial forecasting models, investor-specific analysis requests, and regulatory filings for the SEC. Before joining State Street, David worked in the audit practice at KPMG LLP and on the Financial Planning & Analysis team at Catlin Insurance, now XL Catlin.
David graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Business Administration concentrating in Finance and with a minor in French Studies. David continued his studies by enrolling in the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Master of Accounting degree.
Trevor joined Stonemont Financial Group in April 2018 after working for Oakmont Industrial Group as a Senior Investment Analyst. During his time at Oakmont, he was responsible for underwriting and sourcing speculative industrial development projects across the Sun Belt region of the United States. Trevor also worked for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey’s Structured Real Estate Group, where he focused on the origination and structuring of sale/leaseback and build-to-suit transactions. Since starting his career, Trevor has been involved in the acquisition and disposition of over $500 million in commercial real estate transactions.
Trevor is a CFA charterholder and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
