Stonemont represents a seasoned, stable senior management team that has worked together for many years and possesses an average of 20 years of industry experience.
Mr. Markwell serves as the CEO and managing principal for Stonemont Financial Group, overseeing all aspects of the business. Since founding the firm in 2008, Mr. Markwell has transformed Stonemont from a boutique investment firm into a multi-faceted real estate platform including development, acquisition, asset management, and advisory services. In addition to providing the overall strategic direction of the firm, Mr. Markwell serves as chairman of its Investment Committee for all development and acquisitions.
Mr. Markwell graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance and earned a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from the Mendoza College of Business at University of Notre Dame. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree with a dual concentration in finance and strategy from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Mr. Markwell serves on the Board of Gigi’s Playhouse, Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. He and his wife Casie reside in Roswell, GA, with their two children Will and Ella.
Jeff Berryhill is a principal at Stonemont Financial Group and leads the firm’s Net Lease line of business. Jeff has over 15 years of real estate, capital markets and banking experience.
Jeff began his career at SunTrust in Jacksonville and spent several years banking large physician practices. After business school, Jeff joined the Structured Real Estate Group in SunTrust Robinson Humphrey’s Corporate and Investment Banking Division in Atlanta, GA. Jeff spent 11 years in the Structured Real Estate Group, most recently as the Managing Director of the originations team. During his time with the company, Jeff focused on the origination and structuring of sale/leaseback and build-to-suit transactions with the firm’s corporate and developer clients.
Jeff has a Finance degree and an MBA from the University of Florida and is a CFA charterholder. Jeff is on the leadership team for the Christ Renews His Parrish ministry at Christ the King Cathedral in Atlanta and volunteers with his wife Shelley in the church’s Sponsor Couple ministry. Jeff and Shelley live in Buckhead with their four children.
Since 1980, Paul has founded and directed multiple real estate companies, including Regional Capital Group, which he has served as President & CEO for over 25 years. Throughout his career, Paul has managed various funds exceeding $10 billion in total invested assets. Paul’s experience spans lending, investment, construction and property management across multiple asset classes.
In addition to working with core and distressed assets over the years, Paul has also established EB-5 Regional Centers in multiple markets across the country. He is a frequent speaker on the topic and a sought after strategist regarding capital structures that utilize EB-5 funding.
Paul is a member of various industry associations and serves as a board member on multiple charitable foundations. He is married with three children, and is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
In the Trading group, he was responsible for the purchase of over $50 million in real estate for one of the world’s largest bond funds. He also focused on expansion into new markets and asset management of the fund’s 4,000 rental homes. Previously, Neal worked for over 3 years as an Analyst, and then Associate, in Landmark Properties’ development group in Athens, GA. He worked with a team that developed over 5,000 student housing beds and developed and sold over $500 million of purpose-built student housing.
Neal graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the Terry College of Business in 2011. In his free time, Neal enjoy playing tennis, golf, and enjoying the outdoors with his dog, Jackson.

Ken serves as a Senior Associate – Originations. As head of production for Regional Capital Group Ken is experienced in the structure, analysis and underwriting of various types of commercial and income-producing residential real estate assets. His focus includes single tenant net leased assets, acquisition of value-added real estate transactions, and the underwriting, structuring and administration of EB-5 funding. He has negotiated, managed and closed a diverse array of real estate transactions and coordinates the financial modeling of company development projects.
Ken is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he studied Economics with a concentration in Money and Banking. He is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia and a former Division 1 athlete. He is a member of ICSC, NAIOP and ULI.
Brett joined Stonemont Financial Group in May 2016 after working for Raymond James Financial as an Equity Research Associate. During his time in Research, Brett published reports on REIT sector, specifically focusing on the Healthcare and Self Storage subsectors. Prior to his coverage of the REIT sector, Brett covered the Healthcare stocks, focusing on the Healthcare Services subsector. Previously, Brett worked for Wells Fargo Securities as an analyst in the Mortgage Finance group within Asset Backed Finance, where he assisted in the lending against and securitization of RMBS assets.
Brett graduated from the University of Florida in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, as well as a Master of Science in Finance from the Hough Graduate School of Business in 2013.
